Achievements of the Year

I. Debajyoti Kar, A student of Apeejay School, Saltlake has secured Rank 5 in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination 2018. He has been studying in Apeejay School since LKG. He also stood first in International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) organized by SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation). His All India Rank was 12 and 28 in KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna)– SA 2016 and SX 2017 respectively. Presently he is availing NTSE scholarship from NCERT. II. Mr. Mosiur Rahman, Mentor - Physical Education, Apeejay School, Salt Lake, was the only teacher from East India to be selected to participate at the CBSE Sports Committee Meeting, which was held in New Delhi on 28th July 2017, to discuss the prestigious ‘Khelo India’ programme started by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to popularise sports at the grassroots level in India.

III. The Ananda Bazar Patrika in collaboration with Peerless instituted the Dronacharya -Peerless School Award to recognise Heads of Schools for their dedicated service with dignity in their respective areas and to give cognisance and due encouragement for innovations implemented by them. This year, our Principal, Mrs. Rita Chatterjee had been honoured with the aforementioned award.

IV. Our school won the best documentation award for a documentary film on Howrah Bridge and the best Visuals for the Documentary Film entitled – “Hasta Shilpa Mela” in Filmit (Intach - Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage).

IV. Our school received an award from CBSE in “LITERACY PROJECT FOR CHILD WORKERS”.

V. Apeejay School, Saltlake won the International School Award, a British Council initiative, for the third time in a row 2007-2010, 2012-2015 and 2016-2019.

VI. Apeejay School, Saltlake won the second prize in the ICC and CIMA Awards prestigious endeavour. Our topic this year was ‘Connecting History with Kolkata’.

VII. As part of children’s literary meet Tata Steel and Think Arts few children from classes VIII & IX had the rare opportunity to meet and interact with Ruskin Bond the legend from Landour Nandana Dev Sen,Nandita Dev Sen , Shirshendu Mukhopadhay, Helen Shutt, Firozeh Dumas and Boria Majumdar.

IX. Classmate Spell Bee – Season IX – Aisha Ahmed of Class VIII successfully qualified for the televised fourth round of Spell Bee competition.

X. In the Honour Roll Award organized by The Times of India – Newspaper in Education Aadrit Banerjee of class VIII won a certificate in Gold category for his involvement in and contribution to the TOI – NIE website. He also won the Youth Reporter Award for the month of December 2016 and January 2017 from TOI.

XI. Royal Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition – Aisha Ahmed and Aadrit Banerjee have won Gold Medals for their entries in the Junior category in the Royal Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition.

XII. Katha Creative Writing series – The entries of Aisha Ahmed of class VIII and Sanjana Ghosh of class IX had been selected as winning entries for Katha.

XIII. Debanuj Basak of class VIII scored a 100% in the advanced level of the NGSE. He also won the Balgangadhar Tilak Anniversary series as part of the CBSE Expression series. He is also the proud recipient of Atmadeep 2016 organized by “Eisamay”. Mariah Ahmed of class VIII topped the WGSE in the academic session 2015-16. She received a 100% in the same.

XIV. Pipe Band Contingent participated in the Republic Day Parade 2017 at Red Road. Pipe Band team has been awarded the Joint 2nd winner and Gaurav Harsh, a student of Class VIII has been declared the best Drummer.

XV. The Consumer Club of Apeejay School SaltLake has been given a cheque of Rs.10,000/- from ‘Kreta Suraksha Bhavan’, Government of West Bengal to continue with the work of the Club.

XVI. The Pipe Band Contingent of Apeejay School, SaltLake was invited to be a part of the prestigious 34th State Annual Sports Meet 2016 organised by the Primary Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal at Sports Authority of India (SAI)Ground, Kolkata and has been awarded a sum of Rs.50000/-.

XVII. School received Merit certificate for the category ‘Award for Social Service’ from The Telegraph School Award 2016 held at Ballygaunj Shiksha Sadan School, Kolkata.

XVIII. Students received awards for excelling at the inter-school elocution competition held at Advaita Ashram. Jayabrata Chatterjee of Class X won the first prize in the senior section category. Aadrit Banerjee won the first prize in the intermediate category and Swapnanil Das won the first prize in the junior category.

XIX. Children from Social Service Club, Interact Club and Legal literacy Club participated in an anti-drug rally organized by the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. Apeejay School SaltLake bagged the first prize for the rally.
Rajat Mundhra got the third prize in Hindi essay writing Competition organized by Narcotics Cells, Kolkata Police.
Felicitation ceremony held at Rabindra Sadan Auditorium, Kolkata organized by Narcotics Cells, Kolkata Police in the following categories:-

• Swapnadeep Bhattacharya of Class XI won the first prize in the Inter-school debate Competition held on 18.6.16.
• Mihir Jaiswal of Class X won the first prize in Inter-school Anti Drug Slogan Competition in Hindi.

XX. Children participated in “MILAAP 2016, an inter-school SPICMACAY Fest” held at Lakshmipat Singhania Academy. Our students won several prizes in the various events that were conducted.

XXI. Students of Class IX participated in the “Rotary Innovation Festival” conducted by Rotary Club in collaboration with Birla Institute of Technology and Management (BITM) and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Kolkata chapter. This was aimed at bringing out the best and innovative projects and ideas /projects that would be commercially viable and at the same time make the students’ inch towards being industry-ready.

XXII. The Head Boy – Rikkesh Banerjee, Head Girl – Amrita Basak and Anindo Sankar Nandy - class X along with the School coordinator Mr. Chirantan Bhaduri visited Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi to meet and greet our Honourable President, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee on the occasion of Children's Day.

XXIII. National Level Teaching Aids Competition : The National Level Teaching Aids Competition was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi on 30th October 2019 in which 141 teachers participated. The participating teachers displayed their respective Regional award winning Teaching Aids/Materials in different subjects like Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Science inclusive of Humanities and Commerce subjects at Primary, Middle and Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels. The displayed Teachings Aids/ Materials ranged from different types of Charts, Pictures, Models to MultiMedia Presentations, Board Games and many more.
Amongst all the participants 12 Teaching Aids were selected at the National Level. Madam Monideepa Bhaduri from Apeejay School SaltLake were amongst one of the top 12 participants for the subject GEOGRAPHY of class VIII on the topic "Conservation of Energy".

XXIV. INTACH FILMIT AWARDS 2020 2021 - was held on 9th February 2021. The film 'Destination - Home and Safe' made by Aryamaan Biswas, Ahona Chakraborty, Adrija Biswas, Samadrita Majumdar, Lavanya Duggar. Arushi Dhar and Chetan Agarwal won the prestigious award for Best Music. Another film "Winter in Kolkata" made by Ahona Chakraborty, Adrija Biswas, Soumyadeep Saha, Aryamaan Biswas bagged the prize for best visuals.

XXV. Sriansh Majumder. of Class 1B has set a record in INDIA BOOK OF RECORDS for reciting 30 rhymes in 5 minutes. His name will be published in the next India Book Of Records book 2022.

XXVI. Mrs. Devamita Mitra - Teacher Dept of Economics has been conferred the "SOF BEST DISTRICT TEACHER AWARD" for the year 2020-21 in recognition of her initiatives for the cause of education & excellent performance of the students of the Salt Lake branch in SOF IMO in the academic year 2020-2021.
